How alt text works across languages

RankFrame generates alt text in English first, then translates it into every locale you have. You get one description per image, expressed in each of your languages, rather than a separate writing job per language.

Generating and applying it

• Open Image SEO. Every canvas and CMS image on the connected site is listed, with a count of how many are missing alt text.

• Use the Missing Only filter to work through the gaps rather than the whole library.

• Generate the alt text. It is written in English and translated into your other locales.

• Switch the locale in the sidebar, then copy the translated alt text into Framer for that language.

The copy step is per language because Framer stores alt text per locale. Switching the locale in RankFrame shows you the version to paste for that language.

Credits

Image SEO is the one part of RankFrame that uses AI credits. Everything else, including writing meta titles and descriptions with AI, is unlimited. Your credit balance is shown at the top of the Image SEO panel.

Writing alt text that earns the translation

• Describe what the image shows, not what the page is about.

• Keep it short. One clear sentence translates cleanly; a paragraph does not.

• Skip "image of" and "photo of". Screen readers already announce it as an image.

• Leave purely decorative images without alt text rather than inventing something.

A vague English description produces a vague description in every other language, so the English pass is worth getting right.

What this does not cover

Alt text is translated per locale. Schema is not: structured data is applied per page rather than per language, and multi-language schema is on the roadmap for Q3 2026. See Multi-Language SEO in Framer.
